The Crofton Singers was founded in 1947 in response to the wish of pupils leaving Bancroft’s School (then for boys) and Loughton High School for Girls (now Roding Valley High School Performing Arts College) Combined Choir to continue their singing. Hence the name: BanCROFT plus LoughtON.

Croftons has long since developed into a mixed age chamber choir open to all, though the historic connection with Bancroft’s means that we have the use of a comfortable music room there with grand piano for our weekly rehearsals. There is a high standard of musicianship but we do emphasise that though all members are sight readers there is a broad range of experience and ability. We have an established reputation in unaccompanied singing.
